About Frontier Texas!:
Frontier Texas is a multimedia museum that tells the story of the Texas frontier, from 1780 to 1880.
The museum is divided into several sections, including "Century of Adventure" and "The General Store." Frontier Texas is located on a 6.4-acre piece of land, and the museum itself covers 14,000 square feet. So there's plenty of room to explore.
The multimedia technology, in the words of the Frontier Texas website, "puts a visitor in the middle of attacks by Indians and wolves, stampeding buffalo, a card game shootout and a prairie thunderstorm, even a lovely spring evening filled with fireflies."
Also inside Frontier Texas are the Abilene and Forts Trail visitors centers.
Frontier Texas is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and on Sundays 1-5 p.m. There is an admission fee. (The visitors centers are open the same hours and are free.)
